How I Increased Signup Rates by Changing Just One Word in the CTA

When it comes to website conversions, sometimes small changes make the biggest difference. As a Webflow agency, we often test different landing page elements—layout, images, headlines—but one of the easiest wins we’ve seen comes from tweaking our call to action (CTA).

When it comes to website conversions, sometimes small changes make the biggest difference.
As a Webflow agency, we often test different landing page elements—layout, images, headlines—but one of the easiest wins we’ve seen comes from tweaking our call to action (CTA).

In this case, we increased our client’s Webflow landing page signup rate by changing just one word in their CTA button.

The Power of Words in Conversion Optimization

Your CTA button is more than just a design element it’s the final call before a user takes action. We knew this, but even we were surprised by how much impact one word can have.

Our client’s original CTA was:

“Get Started”

It was performing well. But we believed it wasn’t aligned with the emotional trigger their audience needed.

What we changed  and why it worked?

We changed the call to action to:

“Join us”

Why?

  • “Get started” feels like a job
  • “Join us” feels like a community

This small change in wording aligned with the client’s brand voice and gave visitors a sense of belonging instead of obligation.

Results-->  Higher sign-up rates with a simple change

After implementing this one-word change to a landing page built by Webflow, we saw:

  • +28% increase in sign-up rates in the first week
  • Lower bounce rates in the call-to-action section
  • Higher engagement with follow-up emails

Why this works?

  • The psychology of call-to-action copy
  • Action words capture attention
  • Community words create connection
  • Positive language reduces friction

That’s why smart call-to-action writing is one of the best tactics we use in our Webflow conversion optimization projects.

How We Test Call-to-Action Changes in Webflow?

At our agency Webflow, we use simple methods to test the effectiveness of calls to action:

  1. A/B testing with JavaScript (no third-party tools required)
  2. Click tracking with Google Analytics 4
  3. Tracking form submissions with Webflow forms
  4. Using behavioral analytics with PostHog

Small Changes, Big Results

If you want to improve sign-up rates, don’t underestimate the power of simple text tweaks.
As a Webflow agency focused on conversion-driven design, we've learned that even the smallest changes, like replacing a single word in a call to action, can lead to measurable growth.
