What a Monthly Webflow Maintenance Plan Should Include

A monthly Webflow maintenance plan should cover five checks: indexing in Search Console, mobile speed, Webflow's built-in audits, backups, and traffic and bandwidth. Each check is short and repeatable. The goal is to find problems before visitors or Google do.

What a Monthly Webflow Maintenance Plan Should Include

Is your Webflow site slow, costly or hard to find?

Why it matters

A live site keeps changing. Editors publish, scripts get added and URLs move. Small problems build up quietly.

Webflow does not offer scheduled backups. It saves restore points on every 50th auto-save and when you restore. So a manual restore point before big changes is your safety net.

Search Console is slow to confirm fixes. Google says validation typically takes up to about two weeks, and it can take much longer. Finding an issue early shortens that wait.

How to check it

  1. Search Console, Page indexing. Compare indexed and not indexed pages. Read the "Why pages aren't indexed" table. Google says some reasons, such as a duplicate page, are legitimate.
  2. PageSpeed Insights. Test key pages on mobile and desktop. Read field data first. It covers the previous 28 days. Good scores are LCP at 2,500 ms or less, INP at 200 ms or less, and CLS at 0.1 or less.
  3. Webflow health scan. Go to support.webflow.com/audit, pick the site and click Start scan. It returns a score from 0 to 100. It checks hosting, performance, SEO and design. It only checks meta tags on the homepage.
  4. Audit panel in the Designer. It flags missing alt text, empty links, skipped heading levels, duplicate IDs, meta titles, meta descriptions and schema markup. It does not check anything inside components, or CMS-bound images.
  5. Site usage. Open Site settings, then Site usage. Compare the Trend tile and the Biggest movers filter.
  6. GA4 Realtime. Visit your published site and confirm your visit appears.
  7. Backups. Open Site settings, then Backups. Confirm a recent restore point exists.

On Enterprise plans, the Site Activity log also shows who changed what.

How to fix it in Webflow

  1. Pick a fixed day each month. Run the checks in the same order. Keep a short note of what you found and changed.
  2. Save a restore point before changes. Wait for the "Changes saved" checkmark. Press Cmd or Ctrl + Shift + S, add a description and click Save.
  3. Fix indexing problems at the source. Fix every instance of an issue first. Then open the issue and click Validate fix once. Do not click it again until validation succeeds or fails.
  4. Clear audit items. Add descriptive alt text. Fix heading order. Remove duplicate IDs. Write missing meta titles and descriptions. Check components and CMS images by hand.
  5. Trim heavy assets. Start with the top bandwidth assets in Site usage. Compress images and convert them to WebP. Replace GIFs over 1 MB with MP4. Delete unused fonts and assets.
  6. Remove scripts you no longer need. Webflow advises limiting external references. Move page-specific code to that page's custom code settings.
  7. Review 301 redirects. Go to Site settings, then Publishing, then 301 redirects. Remove mistakes. Webflow recommends keeping the total at 1,000 or fewer.
  8. Confirm analytics. Use one GA4 install method only. A second install creates duplicate tracking scripts.
  9. Know the cost of a restore. Webflow saves your current version before restoring, so a restore can be reversed. After a restore, scheduled items change to "Queue to publish." Bot blocking turns off. reCAPTCHA keys must be added again.
  10. Publish, then scan again. Re-run the health scan and PageSpeed Insights. Field data updates slowly, so give it time.

FAQ

How often should I run the Webflow health scan?

Webflow recommends scanning at launch, after major updates, after custom domain changes, or whenever you want a health review. A monthly scan fits that advice.

Does Webflow back up my site on a schedule?

No. Webflow says it does not offer scheduled backups. It saves restore points on every 50th auto-save, and you can create one manually at any time.
