How to Noindex Thin CMS Pages in Webflow
Open the CMS item, go to Item details and turn Sitemap Indexing off. Then save and publish. Webflow says this overrides the site setting for that item and leaves it out of the sitemap. Do not block the page in robots.txt, or Google will never see the rule.

Google's spam policies do not use the term "thin content." They do warn about scaled content abuse. That means many pages made mainly to manipulate rankings, with little value for users. Google's advice is to exclude such content from Search.
A CMS makes it easy to publish many pages fast. Some will say very little, such as placeholder items or entries with one line of text. Keeping them out of search is calmer than letting them pile up.
Noindex works when Google can read it. Google says a blocked page never shows its rules. So a robots.txt block can leave the page visible.
How to check it
- List your weak items. Open each Collection. Sort by fields that show gaps, such as an empty body or a missing image.
- Read them as a visitor. Ask what a person would gain from the page. If nothing, mark it.
- Check Search Console. Open Page indexing. Look at which of these URLs Google has indexed and which it left out.
- Check the sitemap. Open yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml. Look for the weak URLs.
- Check the item setting. Open the item and go to Item details. See whether Sitemap Indexing is on.
- Check robots.txt. Go to Site settings, then SEO, then Indexing. Look for Disallow rules covering these URLs.
- Check the page source. On the published page, view source and search for "noindex."
- Check your plan. Webflow says item-level indexing control is only on paid Site plans.
How to fix it in Webflow
- Decide which pages deserve to exist. Some pages can be filled in. Some can be merged into a stronger page. Some should simply stay out of search.
- Enable the auto-generated sitemap. Go to Site settings, then SEO, then Sitemap. Set Auto-generate sitemap to Yes. Webflow says the page-level toggle works only if it is on.
- Turn off Sitemap Indexing per item. Open the item in the Collection. Go to Item details. Switch Sitemap Indexing off. Save.
- Repeat for each weak item. Webflow's article describes this item by item. It does not describe a single switch for a whole Collection template or a bulk setting. Plan some time if you have many items.
- Publish. Changes reach the live site only then.
- Verify on the live page. View the page source and look for a noindex robots meta tag. Webflow's article states the tag for static pages. It does not say so for CMS items, so confirm it yourself.
- Leave robots.txt alone for these URLs. Do not add Disallow rules for pages you want to noindex. Google needs to crawl the page to see the tag.
- Do not expect instant removal. Webflow says disabling indexing does not remove content already indexed, and changes can take time. Google says it may take months to revisit a page. Use URL Inspection to see what Google received. You can request a recrawl there.
- Use removal for urgent cases. Webflow mentions Google's removals tool. It warns the page may be indexed again unless indexing is disabled.
- Watch the report. In Search Console, the Page indexing report lists pages where Google found a noindex rule. Check that only the pages you chose are on it.
- Fill pages that should rank. Do not hide them. Add useful text instead.

FAQ
Does noindex remove a page from Google right away?
No. Google must recrawl the page to see it. It says that can take months, depending on the page. Webflow also says indexing changes can take time.
Should I block thin pages in robots.txt instead?
No. Google says a blocked page's noindex rule is never seen. Webflow says that for content already indexed, use the Sitemap Indexing toggle, not robots.txt.
Can I noindex a whole Collection at once?
Webflow's article on disabling indexing covers individual CMS items. It does not describe a Collection-wide setting. Check your Designer and Item details before relying on one.
Dealing with this on a live Webflow site? It is the kind of work I do in Webflow SEO and AEO. Send me your site and I will tell you what I would fix first.
